New health system poised to improve health of region
In 2017, Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County and Danville Regional Medical Cneter joined forces to form Sovah Health - a regional healthcare delivery system - with two campuses. Sovah Health was the logical next step for both hospitals after coming together to form the South Central Virginia market for LifePoint Health in 2013. Now known as Sovah Health - Martinsville, the Martinsville campus has servied the healthcare needs of residents across Martinsville, Henry County and the surrounding region since 1970.
Why Sovah Health?
Sovah Health was formed for three reasons, according to Michael Ehrat, Chief Executrive Officer (CEO), of Sovah Health - Martinsville. "We have formed Sovah Health for the right reasons - because we are stronger together; to enhance our delivery high quality, safe and compassionate care; and to increase and better serve our region. Together we are creating something bigger, better and more impactful that we could ever do alone".
What is Sovah Health?
Sovah Health is a regional healthcare delivery system with two campuses - one in Martinsville and one in Danville. Named for the Southern Virginia region that both hospitals have called home for acombined 77 years. Sovah serves a 7-county region across southern Virginia and nothern North Carolina. "Sovah" stands for SOuthern VirginA Hospitals uniting to form a regional health system, while "Health" was selected to represent the health system's diverse range of healthcare services, which include two hospitals, more than 30 primary and specialty care clinics, imaging center, post-acute services and more. The new icon represents two parts coming together to make a whole. Sovah Health is the region's largest healthcare provider with more than 200 physicians on active medical staff and more than 2100 employees, who care for more than 100,000 patients of all ages each year.
